Left Unsaid: A Meditation on Impermanence at Hashimoto Contemporary
On view June 21 – July 26, 2025 | Hashimoto Contemporary, New York

Hashimoto Contemporary presents Left Unsaid, a compelling group exhibition that brings together thirteen artists whose work engages with the quiet weight of impermanence. On view from June 21 through July 26, 2025, at the gallery’s Lower East Side location, the exhibition offers a nuanced reflection on fleeting moments, intimate gestures, and the layered poetics of absence.

The works on view consider the subtle forces that shape memory and meaning—what remains unspoken, what changes over time, and what lingers long after its origin. From domestic still lifes and cinematic compositions to surreal interior scenes, each artist offers a distinct visual language through which impermanence is rendered visible.

In Peony and Coffee, Thérèse Mulgrew captures an intimate, filmic vignette: a hand adorned with rings reaches for a coffee cup beside a single blooming peony—an image suspended in time. Rachel Gregor’s Studio Window with Honeyoffers a personal archive of memory through objects placed on a windowsill, where the changing light and seasons act as a quiet backdrop for reflection.

Allie Gattor’s Clippings evokes domestic absurdity with sharp wit. A woman in a pink bathroom clips her exaggerated toenails as goldfish swim in the tub—a scene that balances humor and melancholy. Nicholas Bono Kennedy, in contrast, uses a single table as the anchoring motif in a series of fictional interiors, examining how context changes while a central object remains unchanged.

Together, these works reflect on the ephemeral as a source of resonance rather than loss. Left Unsaid underscores how the transient nature of lived experience can, through art, become both timeless and deeply felt.
