Create! Magazine is pleased to announce the open call for our 2026 Women’s International Edition. This annual print and digital issue highlights exceptional artists whose work contributes meaningfully to today’s creative landscape.
This year’s edition is curated by Sonia Borrell, an internationally respected art collector, curator, and advisor whose global perspective and dedication to supporting artists bring a discerning vision to the selection process. This special issue celebrates artistic excellence, clarity of vision, and the dynamic practices shaping contemporary art today.
About the Curator

Art collector, curator, advisor, lawyer, writer, philanthropist, and entrepreneur
For nearly two decades, Sonia Borrell has cultivated one of the most dynamic private collections of contemporary and figurative art. Since founding the Tryson Collection in 2008, she has championed artists from Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Spain, and beyond.
Her collection has been exhibited at major institutions including the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, the Thyssen Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid, and the Museo Novecento in Florence.
The collection includes works by Alex Katz, Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Jaume Plensa, and Robert Nava. Through her Soniabblondon platform, Sonia supports emerging artists and collectors while fostering meaningful international connections.
She advises Art Belina in China and The Althari Group in Saudi Arabia. Her work has been featured in GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Women’s Herald, L’Officiel, and other leading publications.
Sonia’s philosophy reflects her mission. Art lovers follow movements. Art collectors move them further.

• All mediums and styles welcome, with the exception of AI-generated work. Art created using AI tools will not be accepted at this time.

• Submitting a cohesive series or related body of work is encouraged

Submission Fee
$35 for three images. The fee is non-refundable.
Your fee directly supports the publication, curation, and compensation of contributors.
A no-cost submission option is available through our open blog opportunities, or you may pitch your work to blog@createmagazine.com for online features.
Terms and Conditions
• Artists retain full copyright and ownership of their work
• Selected works may appear in Create! Magazine print and digital formats and across promotional materials including our website and social media
• Published artists receive a four-page print feature and online visibility
• A complimentary digital issue will be provided to published artists
• Selection is competitive and juried. Submission does not guarantee inclusion
• All fees are final
• By submitting, artists grant Create! Magazine permission to publish selected works in Issue No. 56 and related promotional materials

Requirements and Eligibility
NO. 1
Mediums Accepted
All forms of contemporary art, including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, digital art, and more.
NO. 2
Eligibility
Open to artists from around the world. There are no restrictions on age, education level, nationality, or location. All are welcome. We host a magazine open call for women-artists once per year.
NO. 3
Originality
All submitted works must be original and created by the artist submitting. Galleries and agents are welcome to submit on behalf of their artists.
NO. 4
File Requirements:
Please submit high-resolution images (300 DPI) in JPG or PNG format. Additionally, include a Word or TXT document with your artist bio, statement, and a link to your website or portfolio.
NO. 5
Submission Fee:
A small fee is required to cover administrative costs and support the production of the magazine. As an independent, artist-run publication, we deeply appreciate the support of our community, patrons, and supporters. For those seeking a no-cost option, we also offer free Studio Sunday submissions.
NO. 6
Review Process:
All submissions are carefully reviewed by our editorial team and guest curators. Artists selected for publication will be notified within 2-3 months after applying and will receive notifications through Submittable.

We accept submissions in a wide range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, digital art, printmaking, fiber, photography, mixed media, installation, and more. Specific open calls may specify additional guidelines.

No, most of our open calls are open to all artists, regardless of gender. However, we do occasionally have opportunities specifically for women and non-binary artists.

No, a university degree is not required to participate in our open calls.

No, gallery representation is not required to enter our competitions.

Our curators have diverse tastes, and we strive to feature a wide range of artistic styles. We recommend reviewing our website and past issues to get a sense of the type of work we’ve published before as well as the guest curator's platform or gallery.

Results are typically announced within 8-10 weeks after the deadline. All artists will be notified by email from Submittable. Make sure our emails aren’t going to your spam folder, and check Submittable for status updates.

The standard entry fee is $35. There may be additional fees if you choose to submit extra images or request an online interview. There are no additional fees after being published.
