Laurén Gerig, featured in both Create! Magazine and the Create! Magazine 10th Anniversary Book, is a visual artist based in Lansing, Michigan. She studied Painting and Writing at Indiana Wesleyan University and earned her MFA in Studio Art from Michigan State University. Her work explores the emotional and psychological attachments formed through daily interactions with the landscape.
Through layered abstraction and calligraphic mark-making, her paintings translate moments of observation, memory, and stillness into intimate visual records developed both in the studio and en plein air.
Gerig’s work has been featured in solo, small group, and national juried exhibitions, including solo exhibitions at ArtLink Contemporary in Fort Wayne, Indiana; the Schmidt Art Center at Southwestern Illinois College; the Sarratt Gallery at Vanderbilt University; The Nelson Gallery in Lansing; and Arkansas State University. Her work has been featured in Create! Magazine, CandyFloss Magazine, and numerous online arts publications.
Gerig is the Director of Galleries and Outreach and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art, Art History, and Design at Michigan State University. Outside the studio, she enjoys gardening and spending time with her studio pups, Molly and Winnifred.
