Carolyn Hampton is an artist, mom, psychic medium, and entertainment attorney from Los Angeles, California. Experiencing a childhood marked by severe physical and verbal abuse, she began to lose hope at a very young age. That is, until some divine beings staged a “spiritual intervention” that made her believe in herself and the plan that they have for her in this lifetime. In hindsight, Carolyn realizes that she has received assistance from the spirit world in nearly every aspect of life since day one; however, it was not until later in life that she began to embrace and develop her spiritual gifts while healing the childhood trauma.

Self-taught as an artist, Carolyn now regularly channels and relies on her spirit guides to provide inspiration for her creative expression through fine art photography, and painting with oils and watercolors.

Carolyn’s “Childhood Dreams & Memories” series is based on recurring visions that she has had as far back as she can remember, through visits from actual spirits, premonition dreams, and memories from a childhood marked by trauma and isolation. In creating the series, she collaborated with her daughter, who served not only as muse but also as a “stand-in” for Carolyn as a child. Many of the props Carolyn used are artifacts that have been passed down through generations of her family. For these reasons, the series is intensely personal and often includes symbolic meaning.

The majority of the series was either shot in abandoned locations or on empty film stages at Hollywood studios, because many of Carolyn’s dreams take place inside spaces that look abandoned rather than familiar locations. Up to now, Carolyn has not disclosed to people outside of her close inner circle that through this series, she attempted to give the viewer an idea of what she sees when she is communicating with several spirits at once, a daily occurrence.

Carolyn's award-winning work has been exhibited worldwide and is held in many private collections. Her images have been published in books and on dust jackets, as well as in newspapers, magazines, album covers, and on popular blogs. She had a solo show for the “Childhood Dreams & Memories” series at the Duncan Miller Gallery in Los Angeles in 2013.

Carolyn has recently taken up painting with oils and watercolors, and is also continuing to work on a photo series entitled “Constructed Fairytales”, in which she tells visual stories informed by folktales, legends, and myths, allowing the viewer to fill in what happens next.
