Andrea Lewicki, featured in both Create! Magazine and the Create! Magazine 10th Anniversary Book, writes and makes art near Seattle. She works primarily in collage, often using it as a social practice to elevate a sense of belonging and connection. Andrea’s early rural life was insulated from traditional art, and for years she struggled to reconcile and validate her creative yearning. Collage is ultimately where she found a home as well as a second childhood. Since then, she has shifted from only solo studio work to a more expansive view of art as a primary social ingredient.
In her own art, both visual and literary, she is attracted to the surrealism of abandoned things and oddities found in the margins, starting with the tiny desert community of her Arizona upbringing. Andrea has contributed art to literary magazines including Jelly Bucket, Mud Season Review, Cream City Review, and High Shelf Press. Her work appears in art publications such as Create! Magazine, Cut Me Up Magazine, Juniper Rag, and books released by Jen Tough Gallery.
Andrea's social practice centers on creative activities that bring people together from all walks of life, regardless of previous art exposure. She is the founder of the Special Agent Collage Collective, a worldwide gathering of cut-and-paste enthusiasts, and the instigator behind Collage-O-Rama, an annual celebration of the collage community currently held in Seattle.
