"Where Flowers Dream": Victoria J. Fry Explores Memory and Impermanence in New Brooklyn Exhibition

This December, Warnes Contemporary in Brooklyn presents Where Flowers Dream, a solo exhibition of new watercolor paintings by New York City-based artist Victoria J. Fry. Known for her evocative approach to contemporary landscape and abstraction, Fry invites viewers into a world where memory and emotion dissolve into soft, layered washes of color.

The Exhibition: A Process of Release

In Where Flowers Dream, Fry moves away from rigid control, allowing her compositions to emerge through a process of intuitive release. The series explores the delicate intersection of memory, impermanence, and the internal rhythms of the human experience.

Rather than resolving into literal floral representations, the works suggest "floral remnants" and "embodied traces." The paintings are defined by their atmosphere: soft, muted tones are punctuated by visceral pinks and reds, creating a quiet tension between tenderness and unease. These color relationships subtly echo cycles of vulnerability, renewal, and femininity, encouraging the viewer to engage with the work through sensation rather than narrative.
