Create! Magazine Issue #55: The Solstice Edition, curated by Sarah Potter, is now available. This luminous collection moves between shadow and light, resilience and possibility - a celebration of the creativity that keeps us warm during the coldest months of the year.
Issue #55 is available now on Amazon and in a few weeks arriving at select partner locations in early April, including Paradigm in Philadelphia, Delaware Contemporary, and McNally Jackson in New York City.
About This Issue
Guest curator Sarah Potter - renowned curator, writer, and tarot reader - brought a uniquely intuitive lens to this edition. In her words:
"In curating the Winter Solstice issue of Create! Magazine, I was reminded how powerfully artists reflect the soul of the times. Narrowing down selections was difficult because every piece carried its own spark. Ultimately, I chose the works that felt like lanterns: images and stories that illuminate resilience, warmth, and possibility. In dark seasons, creativity becomes an act of hope, and artists show us the way forward simply by sharing their light."

This issue features in-depth interviews with painters Brianna Lance, Sheila Metcalf Tobin, and Emily Coan, photographer Teresa Freitas, realist Maxwell G. Miller, and gallerist Tanya Weddemire, founder of Tanya Weddemire Gallery in Brooklyn, whose practice champions Black and Brown artists and reimagines what the gallery model can look like. Together, these conversations celebrate vision, resilience, and the many ways artists and cultural leaders are defining our present moment.
