Lauren Browning

Lauren Browning is a Colorado-based figurative painter whose work captures the quiet intimacy of truly seeing someone. Drawn to art from an early age, she has been painting since she was eighteen, refining her craft through years of study, practice, and devotion to her subjects.

Working primarily in oil, Lauren paints women in a realistic style, focusing not only on their likeness but on the presence and emotion that live beneath the surface. Her process is slow and deliberate, studying subtle expressions, hidden tones in the skin, and the fleeting moments that reveal a person’s essence. Driven by her love for the process, the challenge, and the deep human connection her work invites, she plans to keep painting for as long as she can hold a brush.

Artist Statement

What I love most about painting is the act of sitting with the subject. The quiet, deliberate closeness it invites. With each session, I’m not striving for perfection but something deeper, for the soul, the essence of a person. I study the hidden lines of a face, the upturn of a lip, the shape of a nose. I chase the warmth tucked in a cheekbone, the unexpected blues, purples, and greens that hide beneath the skin.

In this slow process of discovery, I aim to bring each subject to life. It’s a challenge I return to again and again, not out of ease but out of love. With each painting, I strive to really see someone, to capture who they are through color, and to let that connection unfold one brushstroke at a time.
