Georgina Gray

Georgina Gray, featured in the Time Capsule exhibition, is a contemporary artist of British-Chinese descent who has spent most of her life in Singapore. Initially trained in graphic design and advertising, she worked professionally as a writer in the advertising industry before pursuing her true passion for art.

Her vibrant practice celebrates wanderlust and the natural world, often featuring whimsical animals and abstract landscapes brought to life in a riot of colours. Working primarily with acrylics on canvas, Georgina's paintings convey a sense of fun, curiosity, and light-hearted escapism, inviting viewers to step into a playful and adventurous world.

Her work has been recognized in the art book SITE.MA: Singapore in the Eyes of Mother Artists, and two of her paintings were transformed into a fashion collection by Singapore label ANS.EIN. Georgina's pieces are held by private collectors across Singapore, the United States, Poland, and Australia, reflecting her growing international presence and appeal.

Artist Statement

My work is usually inspired by nature and travel, but this series of paintings is the first time I drew inspiration from the country I live in—Singapore. Although Singapore is known for bustling streets and gleaming skyscrapers, green spaces and wildlife quietly thrive. The sambar deer, peacock, wild boar, and birds featured in this series are actual animals seen in Singapore, if you are lucky enough to spot them. By blending local neighbourhood scenes with the gentle wildlife that share our city, I am celebrating the city’s unique mix of urban energy and natural beauty, where everyday life and the wild unexpectedly meet.
