Filipe Assuncao, featured in both Create! Magazine and the Create! Magazine 10th Anniversary Book, is a Portuguese painter who lives and works in Norway. He started painting at a very early age and studied art with well-known masters for many years, building a solid background and technique in drawing and painting. He holds a Master's Degree in Fine Arts (Excellent) and is an experienced educator and curator.
Filipe is a storyteller. He paints mostly figurative work, and his inspirations are people, emotions, and all types of creatures, which he normally depicts together with very strong colors. His work balances careful planning and spontaneous gesture to create a distinctive visual language—an alphabet of signs and colors that makes his voice instantly recognizable.
Filipe’s strong visual language immerses the public observing his work in a new, immersive atmosphere. Each subject represented is part of a microcosm. His great merit is having been able to create a new visual language: an alphabet made up of signs and colors that makes his work easily recognizable within the immense and varied contemporary art scene.
He has exhibited regularly around the world since 2005, and his work is highly recognized, having received more than sixty awards across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
His artwork is included in museums and private and corporate collections in Norway, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Denmark, France, Mozambique, Poland, Turkey, the U.K., China, and the U.S.A.
He is an active member of several international art groups and organizations in Italy, Spain, and the U.K.
