Dawn Howell, featured in both Create! Magazine and the Create! Magazine 10th Anniversary Book, is a visionary mixed-media painter based in Austin, Texas. She studied fine art and graphic design after earning a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising and has been building an independent intuitive studio practice ever since—shaped by a lifelong creative upbringing and a profound personal reckoning following a spinal injury that led her back to painting as a path of healing and spiritual reconnection.
Howell's work lives at the intersection of nature, nostalgia, and emotional memory, inviting viewers to slow down, remember, and reconnect with the wonder of their inner child. Painting intuitively, she is influenced by surrealism, magical realism, fauvism, and symbolism for the way these traditions hold space for the subconscious, the sacred, and the quietly extraordinary.
Some works incorporate crystals and earth elements, infusing each piece with intentional energy and healing presence. Howell's work has been exhibited in group shows across the United States, including at ContraCommon, Warnes Contemporary, 2324 Studios, RTown Gallery, Art on Main, The Riches Art Gallery, ArtUsCo, The Hive at Bee Caves, and Round Rock Arts.
She is represented by PxP Contemporary on Artsy and is a member of the Studio to Gallery collective, founded by curator Sonia Borrell. She has been featured in Create! Magazine Issues 55 and 56, Art Seen Magazine (Summer 2026), and New Visionary Magazine Issue 17. Howell was named a Top 100 Emerging Artist of 2026 by Arts to Hearts Project.
