Dawn Howell
Dawn Howell is a Texas-based artist who creates dreamy, color-drenched paintings inspired by nature, nostalgia, and emotional memory. Her work feels like a deep exhale—soft, luminous, and filled with quiet wonder. Layering delicate textures, whimsical details, and pastel light, she transforms moments of reflection into portals of calm and joy.
A lifelong creative, Dawn earned a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising with minors in Business and French, later studying fine art at UTSA and graphic design at the Southwest School of Art. She was mentored by her mother, an artist, and raised on vintage treasure hunts with her father, an antique dealer—roots that instilled in her a love of beauty, memory, and story.
After a spinal injury once left her unable to paint, Dawn returned to her practice with a renewed devotion. Through painting, prayer, and meditation, she found healing—a way to reconnect with her body, spirit, and the divine energy that moves through all things. She paints intuitively, guided by color and emotion, allowing each piece to emerge as it wishes.
Her palette is soft yet radiant, often kissed with mica shimmer or pastel dust—earth-born sparkle that catches light like hope. Recurring motifs such as butterflies, moons, and wildflowers symbolize transformation, renewal, and the gentle magic that lives in everyday life.
Dawn’s work has been exhibited in galleries including PxP Contemporary on Artsy, Warnes Contemporary, RTown Gallery, The Riches Art Gallery, and ArtUs Co. She has shown in numerous exhibitions across Texas and beyond, including the 2025 EAST Austin Studio Tour.
Her art is an offering—a reminder that even after darkness, light returns, and beauty can always be found in the smallest, most tender places.
