Cat Rigdon, featured in both Create! Magazine and the Create! Magazine10th Anniversary Book, is a multidisciplinary artist based in Dallas, Texas, whose work investigates ancient Cypriot antiquities, displacement, and personal history. Raised in Cyprus during the late 1990s and early 2000s, her practice is shaped by early encounters with archaeological sites and the island’s rich folk pottery traditions. Rigdon reimagines vessels and artifacts dispersed through the 19th-century looting of Luigi Palma di Cesnola, examining how objects accrue meaning as they move across geographies and institutions.

Her work spans ceramics, painting, drawing, and installation. Using additive coil-building techniques learned in childhood, she constructs vessels with exaggerated handles, prunts, and figural elements, often paired with painted counterparts that translate sculptural forms into flattened, graphic compositions. Each work functions as a self-portrait, merging research with diaristic narrative.

Rigdon has conducted research at major institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), the British Museum (London), the Ashmolean Museum (Oxford), and the Neues Museum (Berlin). Her work has been exhibited at Erin Cluley Gallery, Galleri Urbane, and Giant Runt in Dallas/Fort Worth, as well as MASS Gallery in Austin, and she has participated in New York Jewelry Week. Rigdon’s work has been published in Create! Magazine, New American Paintings, and Studio Visit. She is the recipient of the Dorothy Antoinette LaSelle Travel Fellowship and the DeGolyer Award from the Dallas Museum of Art.
