Alycia Earhart

Alycia Earhart is a colorist artist, children’s book author, and preschool art teacher working and living in Lawrence, Kansas. With a background in art history and experience working in galleries and museums, Earhart approaches her work with a sense of whimsy, spontaneity, and intuition.

Her work has been featured in international print magazines, art books, and digital publications, as well as numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the Midwest.


Artist Statement

Earhart’s current body of work focuses on colorfield mixed media pieces celebrating a painting’s essential elements: marks, strokes, colors, and texture. Combining media like wax crayons, markers, acrylic paint, and handmade paper, Earhart creates work through spontaneity based on intuition and emotion. Many pieces are visual meditations on loneliness, anxiety, nostalgia, and motherhood pressures.

Her pieces are rhythmic and joyful and create immersive experiences for viewers. Saturated compositions invite the viewer’s eyes to dance across the surface from one gestural stroke to the next, and oversized fields of color drench the senses and create moments that feel celebratory and joyful. Minimalist, open compositions create space for reflection and moments of balance and mindfulness.

Her signature, playful color palette is a unifying through-line in her work, making it feel alive, whimsical, and full of joy.
