Artist Statement

My name is Alice Goidea, a visual artist based in Bucharest (Romania), working under the name algo7. I work primarily in oil painting, with a current focus on still life that brings together flowers and everyday objects in subtle, symbolic compositions. My approach is rooted in classical realist techniques, refined with a contemporary sensitivity.

What distinguishes my practice is the attention to atmosphere and the use of pastel tones, delicate textures, and soft contrasts to suggest intimacy.

A central theme in my work is éclat—a moment of sudden brilliance, when a subject reveals its potential in the right context. Just as a color changes depending on the one beside it, a flower or vessel can shift through light, surroundings, or moment. These fleeting alignments can feel like synchronicity, when what is around us and what we feel inside seem to meet at the same time.

My sensitivity to these moments is rooted in childhood. Raised by my grandparents in a home full of light, handcrafted objects, and botanical presence, I was drawn early on to the poetry of everyday life. Embroidered linens, vintage household items, and soft natural textures have shaped my sense of beauty and belonging.

Still life in oil allows me to explore these transformations closely, observing how context, color, and light reveal hidden qualities in fragile forms. Through my work, I invite viewers to slow down and notice the passing qualities of ordinary things. A flower, a vessel, a certain mood or light can feel unique and unrepeatable … just once.
