Teresa Ducamin

Teresa Ducamin is a Montreal-based illustrator, mural artist, and designer. Originally from the south of France, she pursued studies in advertising and graphic design after moving to Canada and later transitioned into illustration to deepen her exploration of shapes and storytelling. Her distinctive visual language merges clean, structured shapes with subtle textures, crafting compositions that feel simultaneously simple and deeply resonant. Teresa’s practice is shifting toward a more introspective and intentional process—one that transforms simple acts of observation into artworks grounded in meaning, emotion, and personal reflection. Her recent series, L'Hiver – Loin du Froid, represents this new direction, thoughtfully blending personal introspection and universal experience to craft illustrations that reveal beauty within the ordinary.

Artist Statement

L'Hiver – Loin du Froid (translated as Winter – Away from the Cold) is a series of three contemplative illustrations that capture fleeting moments of quiet beauty and reflection. Originating from my personal experience of escaping Quebec’s harsh, gray winters by temporarily relocating to Florida, this work explores how the environment shapes our perception. While deeply personal, these illustrations transcend my own narrative to evoke universal experiences, prompting viewers to look closely at the mundane scenes around them and discover profound meaning in the everyday.

Each piece sets the bold, rigid typography of the word "WINTER" against softly lit scenes, using light and color to evoke a quiet warmth that softens the season’s starkness. I deliberately combined geometric precision, influenced by Bauhaus architecture, with organic, gentle forms reminiscent of Japanese anime landscapes. This fusion creates visual harmony that embodies simplicity, texture, and emotional depth.

My goal with L'Hiver – Loin du Froid is twofold: to craft visually compelling artwork and to inspire mindfulness and appreciation for life's subtle details. By highlighting the beauty inherent in quiet moments and daily surroundings, these illustrations serve as gentle reminders of the powerful yet overlooked art of paying attention.
