Steph Blondet (featured in both Create! Magazine and the Create! Magazine10th Anniversary Book) is a Puerto Rican artist based in Tampa Bay, FL, whose work explores the human experience through sculptural form, texture, and the interplay of light and shadow. Known for her tactile surfaces, intuitive use of color, and dimensional compositions, she creates paintings that shift and change depending on the viewer's perspective and the light in a room.

Blondet began her artistic journey after a health scare in 2021, turning to art as a form of healing and self-expression. Following the loss of her soul dog two years later, she fully committed to her professional art practice, allowing personal transformation to guide her creative direction. Her work has since evolved into a deeply intuitive process that balances structure and flow, mirroring the quiet tension between holding on and letting go.

Her sculptural paintings have been collected privately in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Her work is available through gallery representation and by commission, and she works from her studio at Ybor Hive in Tampa's historic Ybor City.


Artist Statement

I explore personal themes of self-growth and healing through textured, sculptural paintings. Growing up, I often felt restricted in expressing myself and grappled with the societal expectations placed on women. I work through these experiences and dismantle these beliefs by engaging in the creative process, which allows me to gain a deeper understanding of who I am as both an artist and individual.

I create intuitively and communicate my story through color, form, and composition. Each material and placement has its own purpose and meaning. While the rough, irregular texture of each painting represents the unpredictable nature of life, the sculptural curves convey the highs and lows we collectively experience. I use contrasting colors and shapes to reflect the duality of the human experience, and to convey that through darkness there will always be light.

While I document moments that are unique to my journey, the message I send is universal—we are inherently connected through our experiences.
