Artist Statement
I make magic paintings. I’m interested in creating an atmospheric dreaminess that hovers between the allegorical sophistication of the Florentine Mannerists and a macabre version of Saturday morning cartoons. The bleeding and soaking of pigment into unprimed canvas conjures a primal feminine force. I seek to redefine power and strength by highlighting moments of intuition, communication, and quiet contemplation. The work is witchy in the ancient, alchemical, abject-feminine sense, yet grounded in the contemporary, with influences ranging from Balthus to Scooby-Doo.
