Manena Pomeroy

Manena Pomeroy is a Chilean artist who works in mixed media exploring color and texture. She is a business major and a fashion designer. As a published and highly regarded fashion stylist for over 30 years, Manena developed a very acute sense of color and texture, which she has taken into her artistic practice. Her pieces have been sold in the US and Chile and are exhibited in private collections. She currently works and lives in Santiago, Chile.

Her 30-year career in the fashion photography world still informs her sense of color and drama. She plays and has fun in every step of the process, learning about the slow process and learning about losing control over the materials. She works in mixed media over a large selection of materials and processes.

Artist Statement

My work is a translation of my unconscious self into color and texture. With this palette I explore the never-ending compositions based on a strict, never-changing grid.

Mini Interview

What is the central theme or concept behind your current body of work?

The central concept behind my current body of work is the relationship between nature, texture, color, and the rhythms that connect seemingly different elements. For me, the process is a dialogue between control and spontaneity, structure and intuition. Ultimately, my work explores how individual elements, each with its own character, can come together to form a harmonious whole.

How do you hope your work resonates with or impacts your viewers?

I hope my work creates an emotional connection with viewers, inviting them to slow down, look closer, and discover something different each time they engage with it. Through color, texture, and the rhythm of circular forms, I want to evoke a sense of energy, curiosity, and joy.

Can you share a pivotal moment that has shaped your artistic journey?

The one thing that shaped my artistic journey was really enjoying the artistic journey.

Less guessing, more making; zero pleasing, pure process.

What advice would you offer to emerging artists navigating today’s art world?

When you finally find what you want to do, do it to perfection, excel at it, be uncompromising in the quality and dedication to your work.

Are there any upcoming projects or exhibitions you would like to share with our readers?

I just took part in the ArtStgo exhibition and 2027 will do it again. All my 2027 energy is focused in going from Chile to the world.
