Cynthia Young

Born in Oklahoma, Cynthia first discovered her creative voice in her grandmother’s kitchen. She later earned her BFA in Painting, Printmaking, and Two-Dimensional Design from Abilene Christian University in Texas, and received further training at Flatbed Press in Austin as a fine art production assistant. She now lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where the dramatic skies and expansive vistas serve as continual inspiration.

Artist Statement

As an atmospheric landscape painter, I am drawn to the quiet power of nature—its shifting light, subtle moods, and the emotional resonance of open spaces. My work is a response to the feeling of being immersed in a moment: a heavy sky before rain, the hush of dawn over a still field, or the fading glow of twilight on water. I paint to capture what can’t always be seen, but is deeply felt.

I paint not just to represent the land, but to offer a space for reflection, for quiet, for breath, for remembering our place within the larger rhythms of the natural world. Each painting is an invitation to pause, to feel deeply, and to reconnect with nature, with memory, and with oneself.
