Artist Statement
I am drawn to the way color, form, and composition can transform familiar subjects into something fresh and unexpected.
Over the years, I have explored oil and acrylic painting before discovering oil pastel—the medium that truly reflects my artistic voice. I love its vibrant colors, rich texture, visible strokes, and spontaneity. It allows me to work intuitively while creating bold, expressive compositions full of energy.
Today, my work combines contemporary figurative art with a strong graphic aesthetic. Inspired by David Hockney, Henri Matisse, and Fauvist color, I use simplified forms, expressive mark-making, and saturated color to celebrate the beauty of everyday life. Through my paintings, I hope to bring warmth, optimism, and joy to people’s homes by transforming ordinary moments into vibrant, emotionally engaging works of art.
Mini Interview
What is the central theme or concept behind your current body of work?
My work celebrates the beauty of everyday life, capturing the details, moods, and moments that make it special. I am drawn to vibrant colors, expressive marks, and the balance between figurative imagery and abstraction, creating works that feel contemporary, energetic, and emotionally engaging.
How do you hope your work resonates with or impacts your viewers?
I want to inspire people to be present, and to enjoy life to the fullest. I hope my work encourages viewers to notice the beauty in everyday moments and appreciate the little things that make life so special.
Can you share a pivotal moment that has shaped your artistic journey?
A year ago, when I moved to Thailand, I wanted to try something new instead of oil painting, so I bought oil pastels and fell in love with them. I loved how natural they felt to use and how every mark stayed visible, giving my work a lively feel. It felt so freeing. It has been my favourite medium ever since.
What advice would you offer to emerging artists navigating today’s art world?
My advice is to never give up, believe in yourself, and keep developing your own style. Be persistent and put yourself out there: participate in competitions, open calls, and exhibitions, and look for opportunities to share your work with a wider audience. Building an artistic career takes time, but consistency, confidence, and staying true to yourself can open many doors.
Are there any upcoming projects or exhibitions you would like to share with our readers?
I’m very excited about an upcoming exhibition in Turin, Italy, organised by Arteaporte. Alyona, the platform’s artistic director and co-founder, recently approached me with the idea of creating an open call dedicated to pastel techniques, inspired by my artwork. One of my pieces will be featured as the main image for the call, and I’ll be exhibiting my own artworks as part of the exhibition. I’m looking forward to seeing it come to life.
